Focus in 2022: Terminology Management for Translation
TSS 2022 is about the WHY, WHAT and HOW of professional Terminology Management, with a focus on terminology for translation.
Day 1 is dedicated to the WHY: UNDERSTANDING TERMINOLOGY MANAGEMENT FOR TRANSLATION
We will understand why Terminology Theory is important for translators, and why professional terminology management is crucial for the quality of translations.
Day 2 and Day 3 are about the WHAT and the HOW: TERMINOLOGY MANAGEMENT FOR TRANSLATION and FOR THE TRANSLATION BUSINESS
We will discuss what translators should know from the very beginning of their academic education, and how to do terminology management for translation purposes.
We will present terminology tools, share case studies and discuss scenarios for translators. And we will learn about the costs of terminology management, and legal issues involved in terminology.
Day 4 is the highlight of TSS 20222, the practical application of the WHY, WHAT and HOW of Terminology Management: Your colleagues and peers from all over the world will present their own terminology projects. This is the oral exam to qualify as ECQA Certified Terminology Manager.
TSS brings together language, terminology and information professionals from all over the world, and from many different organizations and industries.

The course is taught by some of the most renowned and prominent terminology experts in the world.
Unique: Participation in TSS qualifies to obtain two different International certificates for terminology and translation professionals:
- The European Certificate for Terminology Professionals, also known as the “Terminology Driving Licence”, issued by the European Certification and Qualification Association (ECQA©). According to your experience and knowledge, you can sit the exams for the ECQA Certified Terminology Manager at basic and advanced level, and – NEW – for basic level with focus on terminology management for translation.
- The new Certificate for Post-editors of Machine Translation Output, developed by the Language Industry Certification System (LICS) at Austrian Standards International (ASI), in cooperation with TermNet. Your full TSS2020 online package will provide you with a 10% discount of the certification fee.
